THE CREATION OF MY BRAND

I am a 100% solo female entrepreneur designer & creator of my Brand FOODNFASHIONFORALIVIN® & YOURFASHIONFRIENDSERVICES® (VIRTUALLY) I built my brands entirely from scratch using my own creations. My Designer Brand is a Pure Labor of Love!! I formed my company from scratch without any connections or contacts in the industry. I have always loved creating. I attended the New House School in order to learn more about creating and designing. I majored in advertising taking graphic design and creative art courses. I worked in the advertising world, but later went to graduate school for an entirely different field. My love for creating and designing always stuck with me! As a kid, I always carried a Vogue magazine in my hand, just as most of us carry a cell phone. My New Instagram Acct foodnfashionfriendtm COLLIDED WITH FOODNFASHIONFORALIVIN® During this time of closures, I was relying heavily on technology. In 2021, I decided to start my Instagram account as a way to keep in contact with friends and family. As it turns out, I love my Instagram account! I made friends and followers worldwide. It has also brought me so much closer with amazing friends I already had in the retail, restaurant and hotel industry.

WHEN 2 WORLDS COLLIDE

My Instagram account collided with my brand! Shortly after beginning my Instagram account, I like the rest of the world started to change the way I was dressing to fit the new work norm which was mostly working from home and zoom! I wanted to dress for the new lifestyle I was living!!! After all, it is a great BIG ZOOM WORLD!!

THE COVID PANDEMIC & ZOOM WORLD!

Suddenly, like the rest of the world, the Covid pandemic came upon us, and our lives had changed entirely. We went from busy back to back schedules working in offices to working virtually from home. In addition, with nationwide closures, we adopted completely online shopping habits for basic supplies to keep us from any exposure. Most of the stores were closed as well. Like other consumers worldwide, I had to restructure my work, office and life routines. At the same time, I had 3 teenagers and one pre-teen at home doing remote school for about a year and a half straight. We were all working and, for the most part, doing everything virtually. I call it the great big long snow day!! Looking back now, I have no idea how I got any work done at all, having four kids at home for nearly a year and a half!!

EVERYTHING COMES FULL CIRCLE

After turning 40, I decided to hire a private detective mainly to try and find my medical history records since I was adopted at birth. I thought obtaining these medical records and my biological background history would be important as I could share it with my family. In conducting this thorough search, the private detective actually discovered something else! My now deceased biological grandfather, whom I had never met, was a clothing designer in the textile industry. He migrated here with a few hundred dollars from Europe onto FIFTH AVENUE, New York where he resided and worked as a Clothing Designer!! Designing Clothes Is Truly In My DNA!!

Collectively, I have combined my role as a working mother of 4 stylish girls living in the suburbs with my Education, Advertising Graphic Design, and Media work experience together with my biological family history and mixed it all into One INGREDIENT!!

REMEMBER THOSE EMAIL BLASTS DURING COVID CLOSURES

As a consumer, having three teenagers and one pre-teen, I was being constantly bombarded with daily e-mail blasts from huge designers having sales up to 40% off. Even with the massive sales, my girls and I could not find anything we really loved. Having my own profession, I was used to wearing formal clothing wear, but I was now living in a ZOOM world. I found myself also shopping in a whole new category "CASUAL WEAR"!!

So what was a real FOODNFASHIONFRIEND® going to do?

I launched my own brand!

HOW IT ALL STARTED

At first, I began designing the clothes for myself, just designing things I would love to see in a store but could not find anywhere. I had so many ideas along with so many amazing sneakers and handbags to accessorize. Since I could not find anything I loved, I started designing my sketches from home in my office, dining room and living room and even in the backyard. I also started updating all my software skills in graphics, trying to get my hands on all tutorials I could find. Soon after making and wearing my clothes, my four daughters asked me if they could wear some clothes too. My 11-year-old daughter asked if I could make them in her size since she wanted to wear them too, So I did!

Soon after, friends, acquaintances and others started complimenting my clothing and asking where I bought the shirt or who makes it. BOOM! IT HIT ME! I had become just like my Biological Grandfather, whom I had never met. A Clothing Designer! I continued to grow, share and sell my clothes WORLDWIDE with all my AMAZING followers, friends and clientele.

IT'S ROUGH OUT THERE!!

For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you probably recognize my phrase..." It's rough out there". I use this expression as a working mom of 4 kids in the suburbs juggling all those hats, and navigating all those mom group texts and chatter throughout weekends, holidays and vacations. My uphill climb as a start-up was rough, having no ready connections as a female CEO & entrepreneur of two companies. I was up for the challenge! As a career woman with four kids, I was already accustomed to facing adversity in the corporate world. After all, I overcame many challenges and stereotypes going back to my career after taking a very short time away to care for my newborns.

MAKING MISTAKES AND LEARNING!!

At first, I knew it was risky, but I was very excited about my brand and designs, so I decided to share my ideas with retailers. A few retailers asked me to send in my designs. A little after, I saw my designs being fabricated by someone whom I shared my designs with. It was a little here, a little there!! I was disappointed! Overtime, I became more cautious about sharing my designs with anyone at the preproduction phase. Accordingly, I knew I had to familiarize myself with all the updated software versions and graphic design software which I previously learned while attending the New House School. I was also now in constant contact with my amazing attorney who specializes in Copyright, Brand Trademark Law. I had to protect myself and my brand designs from all fabricators and others who are constantly hunting for ideas.

LEARNING MY OWN BUSINESS!

I knew I had to learn every aspect of my business in order to protect from any more potential fabricators or others who may also like my ideas and use them without me in the loop!!

By sharing my design ideas with fewer potential fabricators or big sharks. I could keep my designs closer to me & IN-HOUSE 100% AUTHENTIC for ALL my amazing, clientele, friends and followers. So I started learning and configuring most of my designs onto software all myself 24-7!!

This way I would not have to share my sketches all over. I continue to make every effort to keep my design creations OG ORIGINAL & 100% AUTHENTIC, offering them to my incredible followers, clientele and friends!!
